I’ve been undecided about posting this, as there are very few details, and only one mention on a design awards website: iF Design Award – Kandao QooCam EGO 2; nothing official yet from Kandao. However, it appears Kandao may be launching the QooCam EGO 2 camera later this year, with a couple of the main additional features being interchangeable lenses, allowing the user to take stereoscopic 3-D photos and videos from a wider range of distances and especially for VR, and a new flip screen.

| QooCam EGO 2 is an innovative portable 3D camera with an interchangeable lens system. It features three pairs of custom lenses: a 180° 3D fisheye for immersive VR videos and two planar 3D lenses with an 80° field of view and varying pupil distances for close-up or even macro shots. Users can quickly switch lenses to capture 3D VR videos in up to 8K resolution, offering versatile shooting options. The flip screen allows real-time monitoring for easy composition adjustments. Additionally, the mobile app provides instant control and editing features, making it easy to share high-quality VR images. |
It will be interesting to see what other improvements the EGO 2 has over the its Kickstarter predecessor; fingers crossed, the short battery life, long startup times, and difficult-to-press buttons are high on the agenda! I will, however, as someone with a small head, miss the snap-on viewer for people with eyes quite close together that the EGO 1 featured.
